Computer-aided design (CAD) and computer aided modeling (CAM) is the use of computer technology to aid in jewelry design. CAD/CAM allows rotations in three dimensions, so that Ross can view a designed object from any desired angle, even from the inside looking out. Ross uses CAD/CAM to design complex creations of jewelry in addition to simple patterns. CAD/CAM has become an especially important technology in our store because it greatly shortens the design cycle. CAD/CAM enables Ross to lay out and develop work on screen, print it and save it for future editing. |
